Care Haven’s primary objective is to provide a comfortable home environment as well as professional therapeutic care for people who have a history of a mental illness.

We cater not only for patients who have been discharged from a psychiatric hospital but also those who do not have family or whose family do not, or cannot, cope.  Our residential care includes full time accommodation, three meals per day, laundry services and transport is also provided as and when needed.

Our services are offered to South African citizens, between the ages of 18 and 54 years, with a history of a mental illness such as Schizophrenia, various types of depression and Bi-Polar Mood Disorder.

Everyone is welcome as Care Haven does not differentiate between language, race or creed or HIV status.

Our only requirement is that the patient be assessed by our multi-disciplinary team in order to determine his, or her, suitability for our structure. Screening and assessment is done on referral from hospitals, Doctors, Welfare Organisations and families for people requiring admission to our centre.

Care Haven mainly caters for people who live in the Eastern Cape Province and the majority of our residents are in receipt of a State Disability Grant, of which the bulk is used to pay their monthly board and lodging.
