- To render an educational service to the general public regarding psychiatric illness;
- To promote the work of psychiatric services and to assist in removing the stigma attached to psychiatric patients;
- To provide amenities and facilities over and above those provided by the State for psychiatric patients;
- To promote social and recreational activities for all psychiatric patients;
- To establish residential centres for patients requiring accommodation upon their discharge from a psychiatric hospital;
- To liaise with the Mental Health Societies in the Eastern Cape regarding the enhancement of psychiatric services in the said area, and whenever possible to establish joint projects for psychiatric patients;
- To serve as a stepping stone back into the community for patients requiring short-term treatment and residential care upon their discharge from a psychiatric institute;
- To collect funds from the public and elsewhere to fulfil the objectives and aims of the organisation.
